Sal`s Tacos and Mexican Restaurant in West Sacramento

Very clean and welcoming spot. They serve big portions and for reasonable prices. We loved the food a lot and the staff were very attentive and informative. I recommend this place.

I completely agree with Nicole. Sal’s has been a staple in the community for decades. Sal sold the business recently and the new owners have no clue of what they inherited or how to be successful with it. They are solely relying on Sal’s well established business practices, but that will only last so long once returning customers get a taste of what’s being offered now. Once a successful business recipe has been established, do not change it, just nurture it. I have been a patron of the old Sal’s since the 1980’s. It’s sad to see a great thing get ruined so quickly just to try to make money. Sal wasn’t in it for the money, he actually cared about his people that worked for him and also his loyal customers. I will not be a patron of this place any longer.

Excellent and flavorful food, I loved the vibes this place has, and the staff members were super friendly. Will definitely eat here again.

Chicken burrito was yummy, good deal for the area at $6.99! Small salsa bar, free with any order and good.

This place is off the hook salsa is so good the service was fabulous i came from out of town and needed a fix they did it everything about this place was on point congratulations every time i come to area i will be there 5 thumbs up good job SAL

The young mad at the counter was very cool and made us feel welcome. Thank you to him again! We stumbled on Sal's after leaving the American river. The street tacos were so delicious. The tortillas were crispy on the edges and soft where it needed to be. We tried the shrimp, fish and the asada tacos and all were tasty. Watermelon margaritas were enjoyable with tajin and salt around the glass rim. The locals were warned and friendly too. We really enjoyed stopping by Sal's.

Pricey. If you drink water you mIGHt be under 10 bucks for lunch of average size portion. There might be some chump change left for the tip jar. Tasty food though.

Good food but employees need training in personality. Their like robots I've been going there for years and always no smiles no hi how ya doing just " Next" .

Not good. Went on a Saturday around 1PM. Sat outside due to Covid (not a big deal for me). Service was extremely slow, which is somewhat understandable with Covid, but it is a weekend so staffing should be more than one server for the entire place. Ordered the asada street tacos, 4 for $10 and were cold upon arrival. I've had street tacos from a taco truck that were way better. These had no flavor whatsoever. I doubt I will ever return.

Service was was excellent, prices are reasonable. Ice cold beer in a TALL frosted mug (and at happy hour price), and the tacos de papas tasted amazing with fresh, authentic ingredients. New favorite.

We arrived at this place for a meeting. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was very nice. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The meal was delicious. We enjoyed every moment and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Highly recommended.

The Posolé is off the hook, fish tacos, too. Unfortunately the staff don't seem to like it there. Lots of angry, unhappy folks & that's the STAFF! But the food, the food is good.

New management, no salsa bar that used to be there, ridiculous prices.I LOVED coming to Sal’s because it felt like home. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, and I came for the delicious salsa bar and the home cooked style meals.... now I believe it’s gentrified. Outlandish prices, with a mini salsa bar. Only yuppies would pay that price. Waitress seemed rude and pushy as well. I won’t be returning and it’s truly a disappointment.

Under new managment not the original Sals but it was ok service was great food just ok flavor but the wet burrito came out cold my husband said the original Sals brought plates out hot he had to send it back my super burrito was filled on one end and empty on the other half so I felt like i only had half of a burrito for 11.25 lol and the server my husband said made it seem different his approach was off even though he was ok

Great local spot for authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. My friend ordered their street tacos and I ordered the regular tacos, which we both devoured. They have an open bar of chips and salsa, with a large variety of salsas. They also have a decent selection of beers if you want to enjoy one with your meal. There's plenty of seating, even with the nightly rush at dinner.

Loved the vegan tocos. My husband loved the carne asada tacos and the salsas were delicious! The chips seemed store bought, though and they were out of Pacifico Beer.

I go to this outstanding place often since I like the good mood that is outline this place. The crew is highly welcoming and skilfull. The service is very efficient. Not to mention, the food they prepare is highly distinguished. I frequent many times and I was always joyful. The cost is modest. I suggest this restaurant to all my friends.

They have the best chili verde, its always fresh!!!! And they have excellent customer service. They're always so nice. I also enjoy the interior with all the art. Awesome Mexican restaurant never have any problems.

First Time coming here and it wasn't a disappointed at all. I ordered some street tacos (ground beef, chicken,asada) they were all really good. I'll be back to try more of the food. The waiter I had was enrequa he was very informative and quick with the drinks and was really friendly.

The food was bland. The tacos al pastor didn't have any flavor. The carne asada burrito was salty with no real taste and the tortilla was doughy. There was a part of the tortilla where it folded into itself that felt like I was chewing on raw dough. The limes were also dry, no matter how much I squeezed it, barely any juice came out.

I ordered a super burrito Got lettuce and some.meat I'll pass next time I had better mexican food off a taco truck

Amazing authentic Mexican food. Best I have had in a long time. Sal's has been there for over 30 years, that says something for the food.

I haven't been here in a very long time but, I was pleasantly and delighted of the food and service I received, I will return in the near future. Thank you for the wonderful food and excellent service👍🐱💜🐾

Fernando, the manager, and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly. The service was great and the food was extraordinary. I had the Chile verde burrito and it’s one of the best burritos I’ve had in my life. We biked 55 miles before we stopped here for food and it was exactly what we needed to keep us going to finish our ride. Thank you so much Sal’s Taco and staff!

It was my first time here and probably my last too.. Ordered a super Burrito that made me feel disgusted. As soon as the waitress brought, I felt a bad smell. Figured out it was the vegetable that went bad and they put in my Burrito.. It basically had no flavor and it was ugly. The only good thing was the red salsa. I would have given it a one star but waitress seemed fine. So 2 star for the red salsa and waitress.

I had the Sal’s #1 special, taco and enchilada with rice and beans. The enchilada sauce is incredible and the flavors in the beef are just so good. Just fantastic. Enjoy!

***UPDATE 2019*** Came back 1 year later. Still delicious! Everything is still authentic.2018: Amazing, truly authentic mexican food. It felt like a little old grandma was cooking her family recipes in the kitchen. The salsa bar was unforgettable. FRESH made guacamole that was so inexpensive & delicious. We live 3.5 hrs away; found it on our way home from Lake Tahoe and we cannot wait to go again!

Ordered 3 tacos at $4 each. She asked street tacos and I said no regular tacos. She said $4 each and I said fine thinking they would be 2x the size of street tacos. Wrong same size only difference is tortillas were fried and had lettuce tomato and cheese. No great flavor just regular tacos. Disappointed

Best salsa bar in Sac!

At the moment you enter that place the stuff gives you a pleasant feeling. Very congenial team, it is a friendly place to to go out with friends or with your date. enjoyable cooking, specialist chief cook and stuff, reasonable price and courteous service. Highly recommended.

Food is excellent! Great flavor, great variety and super authentic. On the higher side as far as price but well worth it. Great self serve salsa bar with chips. Also wonderful mosaic art to look at.
